A groundbreaking Oak Park event: The Scattering Book Launch and High-School Art Exhibition, at The Book Loft on Lake Street in downtown Oak Park.

In my debut horror now, The Scattering, the main character is a painter. So for the launch party, I’ve teamed up with 25 local high-school painters to create original works based on passages from The Scattering.

So Sept. 1, we’re turning Oak Park’s The Book Loft into an art gallery. The event is free to attend, and will feature:

() Paintings by rising high-school artists, which you’ll have the opportunity to purchase.

() A discussion of Chicago ghost legends.

() A reading from The Scattering

() And, of course, you’ll be able to purchase signed copies and chat with me!

I hope you’ll come out and support these talented local artists, and give them the support all artists need from their community. And a special thank you to the local art teachers who supported this project when I approached them, and to the owners of The Book Loft, Sophie and Heather!
